Date: June 14-15, 2008
Cost: $30 to paint, free to watch
Organizer: Loyola Park Advisory Council and Rogers Park Community Council
What to expect: All sorts of artistic expression; kids and adults alike join in this yearly beautification of Loyola Park.
Why to go: The chance to paint something without being arrested. You can get your own section of publicly visible space to convey your message to the city, at least for a year.
Additional info: The event began in response to repeated vandalism of the Loyola Park break wall, and has turned into a weekend-long celebration of community activism and awareness. It welcomes a wide variety of artists to express themselves. Adults, bring your own supplies. Kids under twelve can participate in a special paint-tent.
