WHY? is one of those groups that fall into the hybrid sound category. They blend together hip-hop and indie rock in ways that give proper due to each respective genre. Half of that has to do with charismatic front man Yoni Wolf, and the other half can be attributed to a superior backing band, one with a cohesive creative vision. Their latest album Mumps, Etc. is another solid step in their progression, and features all of the things that make WHY? so beloved – from the abstract narratives and snappy punch lines to the lush soundscapes. Opening for them at Lincoln Hall will be Astronautalis and Dream Tiger. (J. Min)
