There’s a reason why Rakim is called the God; the combination of lyrics and delivery is second to none. Classic albums with Eric B. laid the foundation, the groundwork that lead to a solo debut that would earn him legendary status. Since then, however, he’s kept a relatively low profile, performing at festivals and releasing a few ho-hum albums in between. But now it seems he’s ready to bring forth some new material, which would be his first in four years. His performance at the Shrine will be a throwback, but don’t be surprised if he debuts some work from his forthcoming project. Opening, and likely joining Rakim on stage, will be another legend, DJ Tony Touch. (J. Min)
