Dubbed “The First Lady of Modern Funk” Amalia brings together a myriad of styles that project her longstanding influences. At times it sounds like Chaka Khan collaborating with Funkadelic, but Amalia has an indefinable sound all unto herself. Her performance at the Whistler will be in celebration her new 7” (“Welcome To Me b/w Bonafide”) under the local imprint Cherries Records.
