There are a lot of ensembles out there who aim to replicate the Afrobeat sound, but few can do it the way the Souljazz Orchestra does. Their influences run deep, and although Afrobeat is their backbone, their ability to navigate other genres separate them from the pack. Their newest album Solidarity reaches even further into their bag as they incorporate more Latin-based rhythms as well as hints of psychedelic rock. The crux of the Souljazz Orchestra, however, is their live performances, and to see them in an intimate space like the Empty Bottle will provide an extra special touch to what will already be a solid show.
