Throughout the years Bilal’s work has come at a slow pace. But considering the way in which the albums come together, crafted organically through life experiences, it’s almost expected if not wholly warranted. His last album Airtight’s Revenge marked a four year hiatus, and had him exploring new styles of R&B, a fearless M.O. that has defined his colorful career. It’s been some time since the world heard from Bilal, but now—with the announcement of his forthcoming album A Love Surreal—fans can expect something great. His performance at The Shrine will be in celebration of the album, and if that wasn’t enough golden era legends Camp Lo will be opening. (J. Min)
