Raphael Saadiq may largely be known for his work with the multi-platinum R&B group Tony! Toni! Tone!, but throughout the years he has managed to move well past his roots and forge himself into a successful solo artist. For his latest album, The Way I See It (released in 2008), Saadiq tastefully captured elements of Motown Soul and Golden Era hip-hop in a way that is neither generic nor bland. His vitality on stage is matched only by his charisma, and it's a little disappointing that his performance at this year's Lollapalooza isn't placed in a more desirable time slot (2 p.m., really?). Saadiq probably felt the same way about the decision, which is why your best bet to catch him in top-form will be at the star-studded hotspot, Kingsbury Hall (aka The Vibe). Tickets are fairly priced at $30 and early arrival is highly recommended, as this will be one of the top Lollapalooza after parties. (J. Min)
