Creeping into his own by collaboration times with My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden, DM Stith is of the mood creator ilk, an offshoot of the brooding landscapes of something like Department of Eagles. The graphic designer by day is part of a musical gang of a family, from a professor emeritus grandfather at Cornell’s music department to a church choir director set of parents. The spirits of his upbringing swirl around debut LP Heavy Ghost, from his initial backturn to a musical career in design to bursts of piano and horns that swooned him back. Two baroque pop newbies, one from Brooklyn, Inlets, and one from Norway, Silje Nes, open. (Gavin Paul)
