The Glitch Mob, Free the Robots, Deru, Meat Number 5 |

At last summer's Lollapalooza, The Glitch Mob took to Perry's Stage and proceeded to rip through the crowd with its blend of dance and hip-hop-inspired beats. The trio (Ooah, Boreta, edIT) pounded upon an MPC/computer screen (your guess is as good as mine) to create a sonic boom's worth of grooves, which sent a pretty stagnant crowd into a dancing frenzy. As its name suggests, The Glitch Mob dabbles in the Prefuse 73 style of collaged samples, but it definitely is more focused in that the rhythms are tighter (think El-P). This show will be in celebration of the trio's debut, Drink the Sea, which will be self-released on its Glass Air label. Opening will be likeminded artists Free The Robots, Deru and Chicago's own — and highly underrated — Meat Number 5 (Ricky Ropesack and Big Once). (J. Min)
