The signature lean-and-mean N'awlins soul-funk producer and musician of the early 1960s, Toussaint continues to age gracefully, with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame giving him an inductee nod, and an Austin City Limits 35th-anniversary performance PBS deemed "masterful." Though he's long been regarded as a lover of the studio rather than the glitz of the stage, these latter years have seen him come out of his shell and embrace a wonderful Southern-storyteller persona, navigating his fingers around the piano with anecdotes galore, while still "finger poppin' and stomping feet."
