Simian Mobile Disco (James Ford and James Shaw) is best known for its high-profile collaborations and well-crafted remixes. The duo's heavy use of synths combined with catchy hooks suggests a throwback sound, but the lush arrangements and jovial spirits are timeless. The boys will be pushing their latest project, Audacity of Huge, which ought to be the perfect way to ignite an all out dance-party. And although SMD will be the big name on the bill, the openers will certainly be worth checking out, too.
Conceived from the minds of New York DJs Daniel Collás and Sean Marquand, the Phenomenal Handclap Band is a charismatic eight-piece outfit that mixes funk, electronica, prog-rock, disco and psychedelia into a dizzying array of dance rhythms (think Rotary Connection meeting Os Mutantes for an all-out jam session). The collective's self-titled debut (released by Friendly-Fire Recordings) has been praised across the board, and this will be a rare opportunity to catch a live performance. (J. Min)
