Tanya Morgan - MCs Donwill and Ilyas and producer Von Pea - would be nothing without the internet. Literally. The group's members, based in Cincinnati and New York, began their collaboration by exchanging beats and rhymes via AOL instant messenger. Two full-length albums and two EPs later, Tanya Morgan has injected new life into the rap game with its ability to weave tenacious, blue-collar lyricism with groovy, hypnotic beats (Little Brother wouldn't be a bad comparison). The trio's latest album, Brooklynati, is a huge, cohesive step forward - with single "So Damn Down" leading the way.
