Furry bears lathering up in a shower contest, adult entertainers with nickel-bouncing pecs, bejeweled drag queens and Madonna on a big screen make for a lot of spinning heads at Spin Nightclub, Boystown's premiere and gateway venue.

Its focal location lures just about everyone: tourists, crops of straight women, a clutch of hetero men, curious Georges and gays and lesbians alike; a rarity, considering the species don't often intermingle.

Hands down, Wednesdays net in the heaviest crowds. As the saying goes, dollar drinks bring out dollar folks. Bring your umbrella, for a crowd of rugby-wearing women almost always bumps into you, accidentally dowsing your attire in High Life. Strap on your dancing shoes, the dance floor forever swears by Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and other starlets with video accompaniment. And never forget, patience is a virtue – especially when your bartender just opened up a tab for one order, on dollar-drink night, when a unit of zombies reach and growl for their turns. Insider tip: have some decency and bring some cash.

Assuming a crowd encompassing Monaco's entire population doesn't show (this happens during cold snaps and rain) you may notice the bar's trove of lounges. Recently, Spin made its full revolution around the sun, adding several rooms, a second dance floor and two full-service bars (bringing the total to four).

Outside of dollar-drink Wednesdays, events include I Heart Porn functions, model searches and fierce drag shows. Additional perks include pool tables and free wi-fi. No cover most nights, however, expect a $5-$7 charge on busy evenings.
