Behold a Boystown hot spot where everyone knows your name by day and the party gets crazy by night. The neighborhood bar focuses on making everyone over 21 happy, if not tipsy, every night of the week.
An antique, life-size statue of a Native American joins a bouncer to greet you at the door. If you're lucky, one of the slew of guest hosts, including Sunday's Miss Foozie, Monday's Honey West or Tuesday's Frida Lay, shimmies out front to complete the welcoming ensemble.
Inside, a group of two or three can sit ensconced within the main bar's standing booths, enjoying a $12 daily pitcher special while watching other patrons saunter through. Once the VJs and Smirnoff Apple Martinis make your rear twitch, head back under rows of streaming rainbow lights, beneath wall enclaves of aged dollhouses and ornate busts, past the seasonal beer garden and onto the dance floor. Need a little thirst quencher after three rounds with Saturday DJs Duane and Kevy? Try a Hardcore Cider Ale at $4 a pint and get back to business.
Roscoe's daytime sensibilities aren't as erratic, and the food brings Lakeview residents out for a relaxing experience on the sidewalk cafe. The menu offers a variety of American fare such as mini BBQ pork sandwiches ($7.95) and a curry chicken salad sandwich ($8.95). Sunday's Glam 'n' Eggs brunch features a DIY bloody mary bar.
After the food and drinks have gone down, take a walk around the bar during the day. Roscoe's hangs local artwork, a different artist each month, on the bold, blood-red walls. It's something easily missed when the eyes are trained on, I don't know, the participants of the monthly Wet Boxer Contest.
