This "club" screams boys-only with its sports-bar atmosphere and burger-slinging kitchen. And if the male-dominated crowd isn't enough indication of what you're in for, check out the TVs. They're all tuned to sports, sports and more sports. Athletic posters, flags and beer signs give this corner bar all the glam of a college dorm room. Luckily the South Loop Club has more beer choices than your standard fraternity fridge.
While most sports bars don't offer much in the way of food, South Loop Club has a full kitchen. For just $5.50 you can get an 8-ounce slab of beef, broiled "to your liking." Keep it simple with "the natural" burger, or for an extra 75 cents add bacon and cheddar. Swap out beef on any burger for chicken, veggie or spicy black bean patties. Nix the burgers altogether and try a South Loop Club special. Battered and deep-fried, these entrees take the term "bar food" to heart. Try the deep-fried chicken ($6.00) or the golden-fried breaded shrimp platter ($6.50). Even the vegetables here are fried. This downtown corner bar is a relief for anyone needing a quick getaway from their yuppie surroundings, and the prices can't be beat.
