Drunken singing around the piano (with a raised glass, of course) never gets old. So it's easy to see why the Redhead Piano Bar is such a hit. Take a seat around the piano; you'll be close enough to develop a friendship with the pianist, a definite plus if want your song requests to be honored. Those who shy away from the limelight can take a seat around the rectangular bar that occupies the center of the room, or skulk into the rear for more conversation-friendly seating.

The bar attracts an older crowd that gathers to hear oldies from Elton John, Billy Joel (he seems to be a favorite of the crowd, as we heard "Piano Man," "Allentown" and "Uptown Girl" during our visit), Cat Stevens, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. The only songs played are those found on the pianist's master list, which also includes classics like "Sweet Caroline."

"Margaritaville" may be wafting about, but expect an atmosphere that pleases the martini-drinking crowd. The upscale bar's martini list reads 30 strong (most around $10) and features the eponymous Redhead Martini, a mix of Belvedere Pomerancza, Liquor 43, and pineapple and cranberry juice. Though the wine list is modest, expect an extensive list of single-malt scotches and cognacs. To swig with sophistication here, you'll need to leave the T-shirts and sneakers at home.
