Mike's is what McDonald's would look like, if McDonald's served alcohol. Actually, this small, dark, wood-laden place is more like your average, bare-bones bar that just happens to have a barely-there fast-food area on the right, where you can get breakfast food and burgers straight from the grill.
If you're looking for visual flair and style as opposed to, say, good, old-fashioned substance, you're looking in the wrong place. But if substance is your style and relaxing with friends in a low-key and friendly atmosphere your game, then you've come to the perfect place. The food is good and cheap—always a winning combination—with breakfast (including variously styled eggs, skirt steak and eggs, and an egg, sausage, ham or bacon sandwich) ranging from $1.32-$8.95, hamburgers ranging from $3 to $4.17 and other sandwiches ranging from $3 to $6. Everything is under $9, guaranteed.
Though the size of the place is definitely not enormous—a sign behind the bar, littered with holiday postcards, reads: "Occupancy more than -53- persons is dangerous and unlawful"—the bar itself more than makes up for it with its feisty, friendly barmaid, lively conversation and all-important pool table. And don't forget to make a stop at the ATM across the street, because this is a cash-only establishment.
