Mickey's Tavern is the ultimate neighborhood dive bar where locals gather to watch sports, talk to other neighborhood folks and drink inexpensive drinks.
One can tell Mickey's has developed a dedicated group of regulars since it opened in 1972. This Logan Square institution has a good mix of older regulars and young college kids looking to hang out, watch sports and drink beer. Despite some generational gaps, Mickey's is able to just provide that drama-free, relaxed and laid back kind of place — if you can find it.
Slightly hidden in a slew of neighborhood buildings on the corner of Leavitt Street and Medill Avenue, just look for the small, bright neon signs of Mickey's to help guide your way. Once inside, you'll be greeted by a smiling bartender with a look indicating he knows you're a first timer. Random Cubs and Bears collectibles hang on otherwise typical brown wooden walls while both the cash register and jukebox are near ancient-looking, giving Mickey’s an even more authentic feel.
Those coming to Mickey's are obviously not there for the fancy decorations. Instead, along with the friendly local atmosphere, the drink specials are still, well, special. On Saturdays, bottles of Corona are only $2.50, while Cuervo Gold goes for $3 a shot. On any given day during the week, you can drink $2 PBRs, Old Styles and Miller Lites.
