Everything in Mambo Grill has a touch of spice, from the deep wooden seating arrangement to the punchy South American food (featuring Cuban and Brazilian elements) to the surprisingly decent prices. But the real draw is the drinks: beer (microbrews available on tap), special margaritas and a truly thirst-quenching outdoor area that's perfect for people watching. The seats sit perched on the sidewalk near one of Chicago's most touristy area, making for decent crowds and that summer-in-the-city feeling at night.
During the day, Mambo Grill is a slow burn; at night, it heats up. On weekends, it's lively but not overwhelmingly crowded; you still have some space to samba. Seating isn't plentiful, but the staff accommodates as much as possible and there's a back party room should you want to plan the party ahead of time.
