Nestled in the heart of
Wrigleyville's beer-and-burger oasis, this little shop had a great idea: Why waste time picking at silly sides like fries and cole slaw when you can just throw them on the sandwich itself and eat it all in one gulp? That's right — at Lucky's your sides come on your sandwich. The result? A challenging meal to wrap your mouth around but worth every awkward bite.
Chicago sports memorabilia and a scattering of rock 'n' roll photos cover the dark walls of the small restaurant. A shiny digital jukebox hangs next to the wooden bar, while high tables and booths fill the space. Don't worry about making it to the stadium on time—a few large TVs broadcast the games.
For about $6 a pop—and easily enough for two meals—the sandwiches redefine bang-for-your-buck. We favor the 2-bagger, a delicious mix of corned beef and pastrami, and the Italian sausage and cheese. In terms of booze, find six or so brews on draft along with a nice collection of bottled beers and a fully stocked bar.
