When asked one evening what the specials at La Mediterranee are, a server said that everything on the menu is special. Well, there's some truth to that, because everything we tried was special.
The menu offers traditional Italian and French items. Pastas, salads and meat entrees, such as veal marsala, balsamic-marinated tuna steak and a roasted half-chicken with potatoes, round out the menu.
The farfalle primavera was superb, for the garlic was like a delightful flavor bomb, and the bow-shaped pasta served al dente, lovingly coated with olive oil and accompanied by fresh red pepper, green pepper, squash, zucchini and mushroom slices.
Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere, where the large dining room features exposed brick walls, mirrors and fancy light fixtures. Navy banquettes surround the room's edges, and tables are topped with white tablecloths and fancy napkins. An assortment of wines are dot the menu alongside cocktails such as pear martinis and bellinis.
To balance out the savory goodness of the pasta dish, try an Italian wedding cake drink, a delicious blend of vanilla vodka, creme de cacao and pineapple juice. It is special, indeed.
