Looking for that perfect neighborhood bar? You know, the one with sports on the tube, darts in the back and a few video game machines? If so, K's Dugout is your new favorite, family-owned hoodie. It's cheap, reliable and right down the street. With over 30 beers to choose from, $11 five-bottle beer buckets, 312 on-tap and giant TVs galore, this spot is hard to resist.
Located just a short walk from Clark Street in Andersonville—where adorable puppies just might outnumber people—K's Dugout tones down the yuppie factor while turning up the friendly vibe. From the outside, it's hard to tell what this place is even called; you've got to look for the painted-on name and peppy shamrocks. But you're sure not to miss the giant, generic Bud sign hanging above the corner entrance.
Expect to find a wide range of people inside like police officers, firemen, young couples, middle-aged work buddies and tattooed dudes playing video games. There used to be a police station across the street, making this one of the favorite haunts for Chicago's finest. Even though that station is gone, policemen still stop by quite often. Pictures of NASCAR racers and K's Dugout-sponsored softball teams are all over the back of this bar, suggesting a history that you don't find in most swanky Andersonville bars. Play darts alone or with a friend while sipping a liter of reasonably priced beer. If you drive, you'll find on-street parking easy.
