Located just feet from Wrigley Field, the Full Shilling could easily fall into the "just another sports bar" category, but the Irish-themed interior and hearty menu put this spot a notch above its Cub-catering neighbors.
The pub offers food and drink specials every day of the week; Thursday is a favorite with regulars, when half-pound burgers are just one buck. Lay down another single for a domestic draft or sip on a Stoli cocktail for a whopping $3. Full Shilling can get away with these great deals during the offseason, but none of them are offered when the Cubs are in town. Fridays bring in an American Idol-fueled crowd with Karaoke (9 p.m.-2 a.m.) and Blue Moon drafts for $3.50. And let's not forget the all-you-can-eat fish-and-chips special ($6.99). Bring along that bottomless pit and get ready to belt out some poppy tunes between bites of fried fillet.
If you've ever been to the Celtic Crown in Lincoln Square, this place will feel very familiar. Both bars are owned by Ala Carte Entertainment. The former offers a similar atmosphere with specials that still hold true during baseball season. And just in case you missed out on karaoke Friday, the festivities start over Saturday at the Celtic Crown.
