In case your idea of Italian cuisine is limited to Chef Boyardee and Domino's (you know who you are), Frankie's Scaloppine is NOT the name of a rare skin disease. On the contrary, much to the delight of your taste buds, Frankie's Scaloppine is the name of the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant serving a variety of scaloppine, an Italian dish consisting of thinly sliced meat (most often veal) dredged in flour, sautéed, and served with tomato or wine, sauce.
In addition to classic veal scaloppine dishes like veal limone and veal parmesan (each $21.95), the menu features an array of chicken and vegetable varieties. Serious carnivores will appreciate the chicken paesano, served with Italian sausage ($14.95), while vegetarians will have a hard time choosing between mushroom ($12.95) and cauliflower scaloppine ($10.95). Non-scaloppine offerings include pasta dishes such as rigatoni with Italian sausage ($13.95) and fettucine alfredo with broccolini ($11.95), as well as brick oven-baked pizzas (about $10, lunch only).
Located on the fifth floor of the 900 North Michigan building, in the heart of the Loop's Magnificent Mile, Frankie's Scaloppine presents a convenient choice for business power lunches as well as post-theatre/shopping dinners. Formerly occupied by Tucci Benucch, the space has been remodeled with dark wood finishes, burnt orange draperies, stone accents and celebrity-signed plates along the walls. A full bar and well-stocked wine cellar, as well as Frankie's homemade Lemoncello, provide the perfect accompaniment to your meal.
