Big Bar truly is big.
Understand, we don't say this lightly. Housed on the second floor of the ever grand and beautiful Hotel Hyatt Regency, Big Bar is big not just in name, but across the board as well. Indeed, the bar itself is over 100 feet long (they claim it’s the longest free-standing bar on the continent) and the drink menu is vast, practically limitless, so much so you'll barely be able to choose between the bevy of alcoholic beverages on hand.
Speaking of drinky-drinky, the word "big" doesn't simply apply to the size of the menu. There's also the size of the drinks, like the "big cocktails," which come sized "big" and "very big" – as in, "bigger-than-your-freaking-head" big (48 ounces, to be exact). Sip on the big blue French cosmo, the big mangotini or the cosmo cooler for particular zest (around $13 for big and $26 for very big). Then there are classics like the Lynchburg lemonade and the pear delight ($12/$22). On the beer side of things, draught and bottle options number nearly 50.
Got a…big appetite? (Their joke, not ours.) Big Bar has big shrimp ($19), big bar wings by the pound ($14 for the first and $11 for each subsequent pound), pizza ($14) and the always-reliable turkey club ($11). Big desserts, each $9, include key lime pie (with chocolate cookie crust!), double-decker chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake.
With a name like big bar, you expect things to be big. But good? Even great? That's surprising. In a very big, very good way.
