Located in the heart of Lincoln Park, the Contemporary Art Workshop has been featuring local Chicago artists for over 50 years. Composed of two large exhibition spaces, the gallery's focus is on up-and-coming local artists. This is a great place to "catch a rising star" of the Chicago art scene. Most of the artists shown are recent art school graduates and local faculty showing mostly paintings and works on paper, although you will see the occasional photo exhibit. Two spring "New Talent" exhibits showcase artists new to the gallery with 10 or 15 artists each. The rest of the year is dedicated to solo exhibits.

As well as being a great showcase for locals, the gallery is also the studio of nationally known sculptor John Kearney. Openings are Friday evenings with the exhibits rotating monthly. (Chip Henderson)
