The Society for Arts focuses on "promoting cultural communication between Europe and the United States." To that end, the not-for-profit hosts cultural film festivals, youth education programs, and ongoing series of lectures and workshops. The outfit also sponsors visiting artists. At the 1112 Gallery, located inside the Society’s headquarters, you can see fascinating works created by Society-sponsored artists, for free.
The media represented in these exhibits includes photography, ceramics, painting, sculpture, and installations. However, there’s a catch: the Society will only open its doors to you if you call to make an appointment in advance. Such good art is worth the extra effort! Besides, there’s nothing more impressive to a date than getting him or her into a show that’s closed to everyone else.
